Default Metric vs Imperial Spelling - Meter or Metre

How many Ausies would now spell metre as meter, like the Yanks?

With having to provide both Imperial an Metric versions of calculators on blocklayer.com, it's a real pain trying to make sure it appears as meter on an imperial based page and metre on Metric pages.

And how do the Pomms spell it?

And then theres center and centre.

Just spell it the correct way i.e. the Aussie way!

Americans don't understand how to use metric so how we expect them to understand how to spell it?

    This may explain it.

Yknow, even though the Yanks don't spell too good, if it wasn't for them we'd probably all be spelling metre like this 計器

I think he is referring to the Battle of the Coral Sea and he is absolutely right. They may spell some words in their own way but they are still among the best mates we have.

Slowly our kids are adopting yank pronunciations though. TV, I guess. When I was at school your forehead was pronounced forrod. And gunwhales were gunn'ls. I suppose we are all becoming victims of globalisation.

They invented the word, so it's their prerogative. Welcome to the forum by the way!

I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.
