    Default The misses birthday present

    Hey everyone,

Here's a look at my second project that i had to make priority over the first good thing its small, but only cause its my girlfriends birthday in a week so had to really buckle down into this.
So iv made her a jewellery box/makeup box/whatever she wants to put in it box out of my off cuts of American walnut from the first project mixed with strips of jarrah, tassy oak and some timber I picked up from work unsure what it was called but the colour looked awesome as the base, anyways this has taken me a good couple of weeks to produce mainly because I couldn't make one mistake cause I don't have access to machines if I stuffed one of the pieces so everything was tackled with the greatest care.
All the joins, rebates, feet basically everything you see was done by hand including the top which was laminated together by all varying sizes of timber and hand planed down to thickness from about 30mm to 17mm
I finished it with a liquid wax and still have a few coats to go but thought I'd upload it for all to see.

I'm personally way impressed with the finish product especially since it was all from my head, sizes design everything nothing was drawn up or planned just got an idea and went with it. Hope youse enjoy

I suspect that you would be on top of world when you finish this project.

Definitely was mate, so stressful when you know you can't stuff any piece in anyway, like I'm only 21 so my skills aren't fully honed yet plus limited with tools as well the rebates for the base I used a chisel instead of a rebate plane and stuff like that cause I don't own one yet, but iv always liked a challenge
