Mitre join help
I looking to make a TV unit out of jarrah. I want the corners to join with miter joints to give a wrap around affect, but i'm having trouble working out how to do it. Would glue be strong enough? The joins will be 2 foot long.
Thanks

Hi Marshy. Nope. An ordinary 45 degree mitre joint has little strength. It's all end-grain, you see. There are routed solutions that offer the knife edge of the 45 degree, called "lock mitre" joints and a few other solutions. But you'll have to let us know what your capabilities/machinery are before being able to advise further.
More detail, please! There are a number of solutions for corners on deep panels, but as I said, it will depend upon your capabilities in terms of machinery and, of course, skill. Do let us know!
