A one of those moments
I had a moment today, I have them most days but thought I'd share this one.....
I am continuing on with the man cave organizing so am building more draws, all the components cut and ready for the front to side joinery, through dovetails, start marking out but then realize the groove for the drawer btm will show on the front face, no drama, will put a plug in there, so tails and pins cut and glued together, ahh better put the plugs in now cos if I leave it the glue will dry and I'll have to clean it out to put the plugs in, quickly rip a spare side down to size, cut a plug to length and start knocking it in, nice fit but then starts getting tighter, I think it will still go as it's only a little tighter, should have stopped there but no, it's still going as I justify the increasing tightness in my head tap tap tap then wood spitting noise, arrrggghh, broken the btm pin, it's only spilt so might still be OK, Why did that happen I start asking, ahhh moment of dawning, the groove runs through the tail which means the plug needs to have a taper on it same as the tail, OK set about to quickly make a jig to hold the plug stock to plane an angle on the plug.......tap tap snug that's it, nooooo, don't tap it in any more
A few pics...

A new day, another new lesson or as they say in the classics, when everything is going right you have obviously overlooked something
The person who never made a mistake never made anything

Rather than running the grooves on a table saw, I cut them with a router starting the groove and stopping short at each end. No need for a plug.

Now that is an interesting fix.

The day you cannot learn something new is the day that either you passed away or slept the day away. Done the later a couple of times.
Your 'moment' might actually get someone thinking about a new way to do the Dove Tail. Is there a new joint coming called a Wedge Tail?

A cutaway view (not really) of the angled plug just in case anyone's wondering about the need for the angled plugs.

I was on auto pilot when I did the groove, I normally do a lock joint which will cover the groove so no need for a stop and start
