Default Motorised my combination planer table

I recently purchased a Woodman 12" combination planer. Not realising that it had to lower the table to about 180mm ever time I wanted to go from jointer to thicknesser I soon got very tired of winding the handle.
So, about $140 later and a few hours work I now have it motor driven with variable speed to accurately set the height .

    Here is a short video.

    Cheers,
    Peter

I've got the same issue. I'd love to get more details on what you did.

    Hi there,
If you can give me a day or two I'll take some photos and also post a list of the items required.

    Cheers,

Whoa this is awesome, best I could do was a circle cut out of ply with a hole to accept the handle and a bolt in the centre to go into a drill to wind it much faster. Your implementation is next level

Would also love to get some details on how you did this

    Cheers
    Nathan

Here is the list of components required.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/225917228489 PWM speed controller
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/225917228489 20mm ID gear
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/225917228489 8mm ID gear

    12V-24V Geared-DC Motor - High Torque 30 - 630 RPM - Maker Store PTY LTD motor

    https://www.makerstore.com.au/product/plate-775-ra/ bracket

The motor I used is the 360rpm, 24v model. You could choose a different speed and then play with the gear sizing.
As for the gears, I used the same OD size and only the ID changed to suit the motor shaft (8mm) and the worm drive for the up/down (20mm).
The bracket for this motor works if you drill a couple of extra mounting holes which is no problem considering it only cost $4.95

Here is how I mounted the motor and please do not laugh at my lack of mechanical skills but it works really well.

Yet again my pics are 90' out. The right hand side of picture is actually the bottom of the photo.

The wiring is all straight forward. I picked up 240v from the input terminal block on the combination planer and added a switch so that the power supply is not always on as I leave my machines plugged in. Also, without power connected to the motor you can still manually wind the handle up and down.

    Cheers,

    Peter
