Mounting pegs for flush hanging on wall
Hi all
I'm after something unusual, I think.....
I have some board mounted photos I want to hang flush against a wall, these have a 5mm diam (12mm deep) hole in the back to hang over something. The walls I want to mount to are gyprock.
What I was thinking about was some sort of peg that could flush mount out from the wall, maybe with a screw end that could be screwed into a stud or into a plaster anchor (like a Ramset Wallmate which takes an 8g screw). The 8g screws I have on hand have heads that won't fit into the 5mm hole....
I've thought of cutting off the screw thread after screwing in, but there must be a more elegant solution??? Any ideas???
Cheers
Lee

Can the holes be enlarged? Ideally, the holes would have a lower portion large enough to admit the screw head, and in the upper portion a slot with a width to accept the screw shank, undercut with a small dovetail bit or slot cutter. The undercut then prevents the attachment from pulling away from the wall, and the upper end of the slot bears the weight of the attachment. The dovetail bit is appropriate for countersunk screw heads; the slot cutter for round head screws. For small work like this, Dremel has the right cutters and a router base.
