Moving to Canberra
Hi all,
I'm going to be moving up to Canberra soon and want to get an idea of the lay of the land in terms of woodworking.
So suggestions of clubs, timber suppliers, interesting shops all of that good stuff would be greatly appreciated.
I'm a hand tool-only galoot, so places that like vintage tools and hand tools would be extra great.

We have the Woodcraft Guild ACT in Canberra with over 470 members. Also an active Facebook page. All interests and all levels of experience are catered for - check out the Special Interest Groups on the website. Many of the members excel with their capabilities with hand tools and a number also do magnificent restorations of pre-loved hand tools.
No shops of interest unfortunately anymore although Total Tools can order in Carbatec stuff so you can pick up here with no delivery fee. We purchase just about everything online.
We also have an excellent ongoing supply of beautiful timbers at very good prices for members and can supply prepared bowl blanks for the turners and box kits for our box making groups.
Have a look at the website and contact me on [email protected] or via the FB page and I will attempt to answer further questions you may have. You can join online for $100 the first year and then $90 for following years.

You just need to make sure you avoid running into any of the unsavory characters that the electors in the rest of Australia send here to represent them!
