Outdoor lawn chairs
Hi all,
i have to to build some lawn chairs for a friend and want them to last a lifetime. What do you recommend I build them out of???
i was considering an Australian hardwood such as iron bark or similar. Only problem with this is they will be extremely heavy to move (and hard on my tools).
Any advise would be appreciated. Cheers!

Unfortunately, one of the properties of most durable timbers is being rather dense and heavy. I used Merbau for some painted outdoor furniture several years ago; not quite as heavy as Redgum or Ironbark, but still a 2 person job to move around.

Pretty sure I still have the patterns if you want dimensions
Another option is treated pine. Brittons and Matthews have Accoya treated pine which is basically impregnated with vinegar (smells like it too) instead of the toxic copper-chrome-arsenate. Being vinegar, it is acidic, so all screws and hardware must be stainless steel. Probably a good idea to clean and re-wax any machine tables as well.
