Default Newbie want to be wood worker moving to Sunshine Coast

    Hi all

So I have found my thing and really looking to peruse my new hobby in all things wood. Hand carving to machine work. I'm moving to the Sunny Coast soon and wondering if anyone knows where to get reasonably priced varying tires of lumber for projects from spoon carving to more machine based furniture work. Also any word working clubs with experienced mentors etc.

    Pete

    Welcome to the forum.
It depends on where on the Sunshine Coast you are going to be based. There is a fantastic club at Montville if you are somewhere near the Coloundra to Maroochydore area. They do a lot of their own milling and drying of timber from salvaged fallen trees from around the area.

A nice little 40 minute drive in the hills. What could be better.

Perfect, cheers for that. Wouldn't have needed to go to Montville but glad to have one.

There's also the Cooroora Woodworkers based in Cooroy. My dad was a member for 20 years until he passed away last year. Nice bunch of folks.
I don't suffer from stress, but I have been told I'm a carrier
