Default , anyone notice a massive bunnings MDF price increase?

Anyone notice the price of MDF sheets go up at bunnings like 20-25%

A 12mm sheet 900x600 is about the same as a 17mm 1200x595 sheet of formply...?

    Price went up like %20

I only buy 2400x1200 sheets. The prices have been about the same as they were 2 years ago. Though I don't buy enough or care enough to notice a fluctuation of a buck or two. Only adds up to maybe an extra 6bux/year to me.

    Are you sure?

    Website shows 12mm x 900x600 as $7
No price for 17 mm 1200x595 sheet of form ply but 2400 x 600 mm is $35 so half that is at least $17

Price hike may reflect how endangered the MDF tree has become. Search as I have around here I can't find any growing at all.

Im pretty sure they only grow along a section of the nullabor as they don't really thrive in wet environments....I'd love to see one in the flesh though.....anything that you can consistently cut 1200 wide boards from must be massive

The grain pattern is a bit ordinary though.

I'll take the formply everyday of the week for the extra 9 cents.

Here's a photo of the MDF tree. The sheets grow on the vertical. Makes harvesting easier.

I prefer the stuff that comes from the Melamine tree, it's white, like Christmas should be.

That's not what I see on the Bunnings website.

    This is what I see. There's no 1200 x 595 but there is 1800 x 595 mm.
It must be a run out on theat form ply size because none of the other sizes are at these prices.

I checked and the 1200x595 is under $10 in sydney.

Wonder if bunnings will warrant their lowest price guarantee on themselves!

    This is an MDF tree.....

I believe they grow in the industrial areas of Thailand and similar such exotic locales.
