I have bought from Timbecon only at the WWW shows as the freight makes it too expensive.
With this kind of deal I will definitely be buying from them.
Peter.

Timbecon
I have bought items from you and have always been happy with the service and prompt delivery. You have a very comprehensive website now so I would be very happy to use your service and in fact pay a bit more than the $5 if it meant you could maintain the service. It cost me more in time and petrol going to the now defunct Victorian business not to mention the frustration when I got there that the items I wanted were on backorder.
Although there are a number of other businesses in Victoria that sell some woodworking items no-one to my knowledge has anywhere near the range you have. In addition most are not open on Saturdays which is not much good to those of us who work.
Well done for the initiative and good luck with it,
regards
Dereg

Tankstand - Just going to offer to Vic atm. But if successful will look at extending it out.
Echidna - Would like to, unfortunately if it was very easy, we would've done it a couple of years ago. We're working on it, and expect to do it soonish. Will definitely be telling people when we are!
Grunt - (Being a bit of a smartass) we have finance available. $1500 worth of goods works out to $15/week. Maybe something for you, maybe not, I don't know, just letting you know in case you didn't already.
Dereg - Good to see a customer here smiling at us. Not that it doesn't happen often, but still, it puts a spring in your step when someone says what you have to us. I'm hoping that the increase in business by trying something like this will offset the freight costs we'll carry. If we do it and it works out, it could be offered as a permanent thing (NOT A PROMISE!). We'll see what happens.
Talk to you all on Monday. Have a good weekend!

As a regular online and phone order customer I would welcome a reduction in delivery costs.
I usually wait until I can make several purchases at a time to reduce cost but it does no always work out. Having said that, on occassions the delivery costs are less that my fuel costs to visit the local bunnies store.
I agree that the service is great and have received some orders the next day!!!!
From Perth to Vic! Now who can complain about that?Russell (aka Mulgabill)

Good on Timbecon
Great to hear from you Hague, terrific offer - even if it is only for Mexicans
I'd love to see more Aussie retailers participating here, offering specials and deals where possible, helping out with problems - being part of the community to the benefit of everyone.
We all want good solid stable and profitable local suppliers who can compete with the overseas outfits - both on price and on service.
The huge response to the Lee Valley bulk order - you'd choke if you knew just how much that order is worth - shows the demand is there, and that it's not being met locally.
You're putting a toe in the water here, and I urge everyone to support your effort. I am quite sure it can work well for everyone concerned.

It sound like a great alternative ..... how about all Victorian members chip in $5 and you move the entire store to the East to fill our void? The new website looks great and with $5 delivery everying becomes more attractive.
Now proudly sponsored by Binford Tools. Be sure to check out the Binford 6100 - available now at any good tool retailer.

Warranty ....
Hague,
I have often looked at yours and other websites at the deals in place at the time. My biggest issue has always been ... what happens with warranty?
Let's say I buy an 10" Table saw from you. It gets shipped happily all the way across the country (at whatever price) and then it either
a. Is dead on delivery
or
b. It fails during warranty
Let's also say it's something that can't be fixed over the phone or with parts flying too and fro ... have you considered establishing a relationship with local machine repair shops?
Also, with big items of machinery, have you considered on-site warranty and or maintenance contracts with your customers? One assumes there are enough machine repair people around the country who could provide the services in each major centre - be it on or off site.
In my small opinion, the company who first does that may make a mint and lots and lots and lots of loyalty points.
Regards
