I have just one question: if my machine arrives broken or decides to stop running, will you pay the freight to and from Perth to repair it?
If not, any initial savings I make will be well and truly blown and I will end up paying more for my machine. If it breaks down more than once, would you pay the freight a second or third time?

It is normally the consumer's responsibility to pay for freight on warrantee claims, both ways. Remember, Timbecom is the "manufacturer" by way of the fact that their products, like many imported from Asian countries, are private labelled. This normally means that they are purchased from the Asian manufacturer without the manufacturer providing a warranty. The distributor takes on this responsibility. To expect them to pay freight both ways on warranty claims is, I suggest, unreasonable. The cost of the initial freight offer plus two additional freight charges would, no doubt, result in a total loss of profit.
But perhaps Timbecon has already something in place in way of a service centre in the east. This would be a darn sight cheaper than paying freight.

I can not believe the nerve of all the NON-VICTORIANS here.. you have sat back and told us that your local XXXX-XXX store was causeing you no problems, now that a reasonable supplier is offering us underprivelidged(?) a good deal you want to hop on the gravey train.
We are a poor state, still recovering from the "kennet" years, please give us a break.
Hague Gobby, Thanks for the offer, I will be looking into a purchase from you soon.
(BTW, my coments above were ment in jest not to be taken seriously )I try and do new things twice.. the first time to see if I can do it.. the second time to see if I like it

[QUOTE=Sir Stinkalot]Hear Hear ...... although its only a colour I never feel confident with the orange. It is stupid especially since we all know that the blue, white and orange gear all comes from the same place.
Yes, that's right, there's one HUGE factory in Taiwan that covers the entire island producing ALL the machines for Australian suppliers.. can you imaging it?
Fact is, there are HUNDREDS of factories producing similar looking (but not similar quality) machines. Do you really think they all come from the one factory? Our local machinery suppliers shop around same as we do..

Hague mate.
As you should know (living in a branch office state) freight is one of the most significant matters influencing purchasing in states other than NSW & VIC. Particularly when waranty returns are at the cost of the buyer.
If you con do something about your "freight penalty" you will pick up business in other states.
Some tricks used in QLD
Closed door wearhouse.
Used by some of the scientific companies ( dangerous goods, extreem fragiles ) A local minimum staff wearhouse where the delivery stream is consolidated & local freight is arranged.
All orders are processed at head office. Shipments are consolidated to the local wearhouse goods available for collection or on freight.
Flat fee freight
most of my electronics suppliers.
$15 is still a hit on small components but the smart thing is to bulk up the order.
FIS pricing
goods priced delivered.
Minimum stock store front
One of my pubilc address suppliers has the majority of the local market due to this method. "Not in stock mate but I can have one in on wednesdays truck."
small store front where some stuff is stocked but the majority is ordered in as required. Can also be used as a freight staging post.
cheers

G'day Hague Gobby,
Count me in.
E. Malacuta, don't you already live in Mexico? I'm a Qldr by birth and now reside in suburban Kilsyth, Melbourne. As a Queenslander we'd always call you guys yits or Mexicans. So if NSW is Mexico and I'm now in Vic, what should I call Vic, Antartica? It feels like it at times.

Hi Hague,
Count me in as well, orange might not be my favourite machine colour but I'm about to adjust. On the warranty side a number of manufactuers seem to have service/warranty arrangments in other states is it the same for timbercon as well?

Brudda. I know that the spelling nasties have been remarkably quiet lately, but I must take you up on your spelling just this once.
"a good deal you want to hop on the gravey train."
There is no 'e' in gravy. Unless, of course it was deliberate, and you meant "hop into the grave", meaning a hole in the ground! In which case I apologise profusely and unreservedly.
My long lost brother is obviously out of the office as it is still the weekend in W.A. Is it still easter over there or hasn't it arrived yet?Jack the Lad.

Hi Hague,
Last week I placed an order for more than $2k. I'll be happy to pay $5 for freight and then add more items to compensate the shipping
You can count me in too (for now and future orders_

Jack,
The reason the spelling nasties have been quiet is because they have learned how much people hate having their spelling and grammar picked on. I suggest if you don't want a strong G.F. type response, ignore the spelling quirks of others.
