After failed promises from Perth, solid offers of good pricing (10% off) from Brisbane.
I still cannot understand the silence from a (new) store in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. The amount of full\part time woodies in this small area of the world is just staggering.
I fail to see how a new business with such a following of customers from the old Richmond days to the failed Bayswater location could fail, but any news about the proposed store… NONE.
Only in this forum from a customer who called in regarding an Auction on Sat (9th).
I wish I had a faithful following of customers (I have seen many managers go to new stores and customers follow them) but no news of news of promised levels of products, service, pricing, Blah,Blah,Blah.
As a business person (no discrimination here) I would be almost guaranteed a solid base of customers, and certainly endorsed by this Forum (if I did the right things by them) to then develop a bloody good long term business.
I wish I could start out with that amount of previous customers\referrals.
Do you hear us Paul, Talk to us!

I know of a few others who also feel that it would have been better for Timbecon not to have raised it rather than raise and withdraw.
BTW that we may be a bunch of hard markers might have something to do with us regularly getting broken promises from our governments and now Timbecon.
Peter.

I don’t subscribe to the word "Promise" being self-employed, but after such a lengthy thread with so many "Promised" orders to the suppliers in view of their proposed offer, I thought it an appropriate word. My profound apology for being so inaccurate.

sherwood machinery service
[QUOTE=Hague Gobby]
Burn, netfirm, DPB - Regarding warranty, if it is just a broken part, we will send it over to you. If it is a major fundamental problem, we get it back here, and if it is a genuine warranty claim, we will pay freight both ways. We have a very good service man that can usually diagnose a problem over the phone and sort it out if it is just an adjustment issue, but if its something fundamental we get it back here.
I don't much like the colour of our machines either. Ross picked it, not me.
I hope that the repair man you are talking about is not the same expert who advised that the Sherwood 12 1/2" thicknesser which had chewed up a drive chain did not have any spare chains available any more and that I could use a bike chain instead !! He said that T/c would not have spares for these machines in the forseable futurre and that I should experiment with whatever bike chain I could find. For his information...No bike chains will ever fit these sprockets.
Luckily I went to see the guys at C/t in balcatta and whilst they did not know the machine, they found a thicknesser drive chain in their spare parts room which was a perfect fit.
Sooo Hague, hope you are talking about another expert !

Now that the business is no longer affiliated with CT and has started in the last week trading on its own account you seem to demand that Paul comes on board and explain his business plans to you.
So whilst they are sorting out their own sources of supplies and delivery dates you seem to condemn them for trying to avoid previous mistakes and firming up details before making a public announcement.
Damned if you do and damned if you don't.
BTW I don't work for them just a customer,

Totally wrong.
I want to encourage Paul to make a success out of the whole shambles.
I am not a critic, but a supporter.
I suppose the English language can lend itself to how others interpret honest comment.

I deal with Timbecon because they are competitive even with the freight added and their service is tops.

Peter S,
Enough already. You only had to mention it once; not spam every bludy thread.

I think your being a bit tough blaming people such as me for Timbercon pulling out of what looked like a great offer. You should note from the first quote that Hague was actually encouraging participation. From my perspective if South Aussies came on board as well it could be to everyones advantage. From the second quote to Tankstand, another South Aussie, you will note that the door was left open. In the third quote Hague blamed frieght companies for our exclusion. In the fouth quote "ACTUAL RESPONSE" Hague made no mention of interstaters but started to downplay the scheme by saying that it wasn't his business so he can't make the final decision. In the final quote Hague virtually lays blame for failure of the proposal on customers in other states.
Of course I was pushing Hague to see how far they would go, in fact I conducted significant research on machinery that I wished to buy and if the proposal had come off, I like you may well have had a significant order. At no time was I winging or moaning, just testing a company to see how they would respond. I was always of the view as Hague said in the begining, "the more the merrier".
Regards from Adelaide

G'day Sturdee,
Where abouts in Bayswater is the old/new TC joint? I'm only up the road a little bit and wouldn't mind poking my head inside to see what they have in stock.
Back years ago now when I was a young guy, my Dad and I'd go into what was Scurs Mitre 10 in Mt. Gravatt in Brisbane and the blokes on the floor knew their stuff and carried top notch equipment - not the weekender DIY stuff, long story short I'm trying to find a place that carries similar. Being new to Melbourne (4 years) I don't know where the good stuff is yet
