When to oil new red ironbark decking
Should I oil new red ironbark decking timber on both sides prior to installation or can it just be oiled on top side post installation? It is going on on aluminium battens so I am less concerned about the decking / batten interface.

Deck.
Welcome to this madhouse of dispirate information Decclan. Most people will probably tell you not bother with both sides but I beg to differ.. I would thoroughly oil the underside a couple of times before laying it and then do the topp acouple of times.
My main concern is: how are you going to anchor the tmber to the Aluminium? I see a big future for crrosion and frustration furthewr down the line if you don"t get this right.

screws
Thanks for the reply. The plan was to predrill the timber and batten and then screw down with stainless steel screws (2.5mm x 50mm or thereabouts).
