Default Organoil Hard Burnishing Oil Stain Removal Question

Hi All, having used this forum 6 years ago to inform my benchtop finish, it now needs a little bit of love to bring it back to life. I used an orbital sander to burnish solid slabs of Mackay Cedar that I bought from a miller up the coast. Overall the result was sensational!

I have a couple of metal stains and/or burns? from when things have been left on the bench:

Does anyone have experience cutting them back and resurfacing? I'm concerned that once I start in a patch, I'll end having to keep expanding the edges and the job suddenly becomes much larger than a touch up.

If the work is going to be OTT, I'll probably just run a finish over the top using Organoil Woodsheen as the whole top needs a bit of rejuvenation.

Any links, experience or advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers

    Tim

    Hi Tim

In the past i have used this system and got rid of some stains left from a tin. Cut a lemon in half, put a bit of salt on the stain and then rub it down with the cut lemon. Keep rubbing and even let it sit for a short period and then rub it again.

    Good luck

Personally I would not worry about it. Call it patina, or history.

Scorch marks may have gone deep into the wood so even sanding all the way back to clear wood may leave a depression. Give Router's salt and lemon trick a go and if any marks are still there then it's patina or history.
May be time to make a few trivets to rest pots on.
