Wide belt sanding in Perth - can someone help?
Hi guys - i would like some assistance with sanding of a solid table top i've just glued up. It is approx 1050mm wide so i will need a 1100mm wide thicknessing sander. length is approx 2400mm.
Perth metro would be ideal.
Does anyone here know of a shop who will sand the top for me - for a fee of course.
Thanks in advance. Richard

You could try Davro Commercial Furniture in Collier Rd Bayswater or Atelier Furniture in Whyalla Road Willeton. This time of year though they are both likely to be very busy and may not be too keen to look at small jobs.

Your details indicate you're in Melbourne. What stage are you at with the table?

Yes, I am based in Melbourne, however I am helping a mate here in Perth. The table top was glued up more than a year ago and has been sitting in his shop waiting to be sanded.
The table frame is also complete with components to be glued up once the top is sanded.
Thanks

Hi Richard,
A few questions;
to what degree of sanding is required? are the joints reasonably flush or wayout? to what degree of sanded finish is required? is the whole top flat or is bowed? are the individual boards flat or have they cupped? what is the thickness of the timber? what type of joints where used to join the boards together? and what type of timber is it?
I could be interested
Cheers
