    Default Outdoor Project Idea - Interested in thoughts

    Hi All,

    Been kicking a project idea around in my head for a while now.

    Thought that I would post it in the hope that your sound advice could help me bring it to life! Perhaps it will get the 'creative juices' flowing!

    For some time, the wife & I have been wanting to put a bit of a vegie patch together. Something basic that we can attend to and provide an interest for our 2 young boys ( 2 & 5yo )

    The idea that I had in mind was to somehow incorporate a small rectangular vegie patch with an old style 1920-30's delivery truck. Essentially, the rear tray part of the truck would be the vegie patch, the front cabin being an area that the boys could sit in & pretend to drive etc etc.

    Sorry for the longish thread, I am trying to explain it as best as I can considering I dont have an image. I am hoping to whip up a sketchup model of what I had in mind however I am interested in your opinions as to what I can get away with from a basic structures point of view, wood choice, etc.

    Very interested in your thoughts!

    Sounds a great idea, would be interesting to see your sketches for the project. I guess you would need to use a hardwood for outside use such as that. Malibu could be a good choice of timber but I am sure others will have more ideas.

    Thanks munruben

    Was thinking of keeping the size down. Only envisage the vegie patch being around the 1 m x 0.5 m mark. Still havnt managed to whip something up in Sketchup however I might try to scan in a hand drawn sketch.

    I was curious as to whether or not I could build it based on a couple of sleepers bedded into the ground. Thought they could mimic the chassis rails & give me something to build the vegie patch, cabin on.
