Overseas Purchasing Advice?
Hey all,
I’m wondering if any of you purchase your gear from overseas and if so who has the best deals?
Cheers Matt

I like Axminster in the UK. Prices are good and delivery is excellent. You can bundle a number of items tighter fir the one shipping cost so it’s worth looking at the shipping costs vs weight and filling the order.

1. Research.
2. Check the price against local online and physical.
3.Don't forget currency conversion and gst.
4. Be prepared for a long wait.
Personally, I look for at least 20-30% saving.
Remember, you are probably
foregoing warranty, from a practical sense. (considering shipping etc).

Amazon Oz are good for some deals. For example, I bought Bessey 3/4 pipe clamps for less than $24 each delivered. That's cheaper than the Timbecon's store brand (Torquata). But you have to be an Amazon Prime member to get free shipping and it's only some items and if it exceeds $49 total. I also bought my Bosch PBD40 bench drill on Amazon for $255 delivered and that's cheaper than some cordless skins. Normal price is $405. Another great purchase was a selection of quality Capri Tools F Clamps. I paid $16 and $20 each for the 300mm and 400mm sizes respectively. I do notice that they do increase the prices after they've fulfilled my order. The 300 is now $23.54 and the 400 has increased to $32.31.
Happy hunting !!
EDIT: Normal RRP for the Bessey Pipe clamps at Timbecon is $61.50 but they're currently on sale for $53.90. Amazon has gone up a little but still less than 50% at $25.60

Be very careful with shipping times at the moment - as there simply aren't many planes flying internationally into Australia and so cargo space on them is at a premium and perishables and medical goods etc are priority. DHL have dropped their economy service to Australia at the moment as they can't make it work, UPS from the U.S. is still OK at the moment as they fly their own freighter in 6x a week. Getting anything international by post is a total lottery - and that is if you get it at all.
