    Default Making my own skirting

    Well I wanted timber.

    I live in a town of 700 and nothing close by.

    Not much work so a limited budget.

    But what I do have is some 6" baltic floor boards so .....

    between a trencher and a router this is what I came up with

    Tomorrow sand it all up, did enough for the one room. Not my ideal profile but for what I had it works.

    Very nicely done, Dave. Old baltic pine looks so much better than the plantation grown stuff - all about grain and colour.

    You are probably aware, but it is easier to do at least the first couple of surface finisher coats before you install the skirting.

    My 130 year old house has original baltic trim - skirting, doors, etc. They were stripped 25 years ago and coated with a couple of coats of polyurethane, then a couple of coats of Danish oil. Very hard working and looks superb. I am in process of re-doing now - suppose I'll have to do it again in another 25 years!

    Graeme - I am hoping to finish it before installation. Longest piece is for a 3 m wall so with scribed miters and minimal nails and glue I should get away with re-finish after with a bit of luck
