paralle clamp
hi, for many years, i have dreamed to have some parallel clamps. for anyone who has no idea of what's parallel clamps. here it is. Bessey K-Body Clamps : CARBA-TEC
However, due to the money consideration, i am still with pipe clamps or simply F clamps at my workshop. I am still in working out the pros and cons of having the clamps. Is price justified by the quality of the clamp? my wife may kill me for a $85 clamp which i may need more than 20 of them. or how much do you think it's "reasonable" price for the clamp? any comments are welcome. Thanks. John

I have a few parrallel clamps and I prefer to use them over all the other clamps I have. They are expensive but well worth it IMO.
I prefer the Jet over the Bessey. Much nicer to use but a little harder to find here in Aus. I picked up 4 new Jets at the wood show. 2x 40" and 2x 24".Those were the droids I was looking for.

John, another vote for parrell clamps. I have Bessey K Body's from 600mm to 1600mm. I brought mine in pairs, when I could afford them. As with any good collection of tools, it is better to incrementally add to the collection to avoid certain questions from the other half. So save a bit here, a bit there and "OH, I have enough for a pair of XXXmm Bessey/Jet clamps from" your favourite tool/toy supplier.

And the Polisher's Handbook has what to do with the clamps? Or just an excuse for a suckup? If so, a bit of a waste of time I'm afraid - Dad's far too busy with the new Forum, and answering all those "important" questions like "I don't like it, why did we have to change?"
Oh yeah, Bessey clamps are great, but would definitely like some Jets as well.

Of course it was a suck up. I am going to need all the brownie points I can muster when I lead the coup to reclaim the old forum settings (actually I'm getting used to the new one. It's growing on me)
And I was very close to purchasing some more Besseys from Masters recently. Pretty good prices for off the shelf. These clamps are heavy and postage can be a killer for those of us who live a long way from civilisation (anywhere with a Carbatec). Those were the droids I was looking for.
