I took my wife along with me to my first WWW show in Melbourne last year. I'd contemplated going solo but decided that given we have so few days off at the same time it was something we could do together and therefore should. To my way of thinking, next time she could make up her own mind.
I wouldn't say that she was really "into" it but she took an interest. I didn't spend much cash at the show, spending most of my time looking at hand tools, timber and demonstrations. I got the comment on the drive home "I wondered why you didn't buy more things". After I explained that I had wanted the chance to compare a few things side by side first, she suggested I'd probably be ready for some good machines next time. So all in all it was a good experience.

Here in Sydney there is less then a week to go for the Working With Wood show and I have read some interesting comments about partners.
As mention at the start of the thread I asked my partner to come to the show. She said yes and will be going on the Saturday. I will also be helping out on the forum stand for an hour on the Saturday leaving her to look around by her self.
I have also committed to go again on the Sunday and if you see me with my partner on the Sunday, just means she enjoyed the show so much that it was necessary to go for another day.
If not then there is always next year.

My partner spends more when I am at the show. Besides which the 4 year old is desperate to go as well. But then we split the woodworking in an interesting way, I do most of the online research for plans, or on the topic, he does most of the work (often with some help for sanding from me).

Although I go to the Sydney Show, it just so happens that we visit my youngest Granddaughter, who lives in Cooma, for her birthday on the same weekend that the Canberra show is on.
Thus seeing as we are just driving by we may as well drop in.
Last year she grabbed some Purple heart pieces and was most impressed by the Domino machine. A few weeks later she got me one.
Don't leave them at home, be caring and attentive, just usher them in the right direction. Convince them that its their idea the set the hook
BobTDon't argue with idiots, they only drag you down to their level then beat you with experience.
