Being a far north queenslander breed and brought up, I luv Kauri Pine. Visited the Lake Eacham twins regularly during my youth. Also had several on the farm up at Upper Barron that we had to cut down. Dad tried to keep some slabs but not knowing what we were doing, didn't survive. So luv to see some Kauri as beautiful as your design that brings out the wood and some stunning style.

It sort of reminds me of a science fiction model. I like it.

Very beautiful piece, Vern, love the curvaceous lines but not convinced about the handle! Just seems a bit ordinary on such a unique and sexy piece...
Congratulations on the prize.

Really glad you all like the table - the more I look at it the harder it's going to be to hand it over - but then I can't wait to see the look on Darryls face too
I was nearly going to go with a standard square type drawer because I was so pressed for time but the idea of following the outside angles with no visible runners was just too tempting
I'm with you on the handle but that was one time factor I just couldn't overcome . Came right down to the last minute - 10:30 Friday night rubbing back the 2nd coat of WOP, fitting the handle etc as it had to be in the judges hands first thing Saturday morning. Wanted to do something angular out of Kauri to match the rest of it - maybe on the next one

WOW?! (that's a Quesexbang)
Honestly Vern, your table is stunning.
Personally, I thing the handle works quite well.

There was a discussion on the forum a few years back as to what constitutes a work of art.
Vern, in my eyes you have defined it beautifully.
As to paying it forward, what a pleasure to see as opposed to the usual attitude of many which seems to consist of "me, myself and I" and stuff anybody else.

Cmon Rod, you gotta let the grama & spelling nazi's have fun too. After all, the rest of us have woodwork for our entertainment.
Vern, I keep coming back & looking at you table. Just WONDERFUL.
And I have to agree with Bob & his 38's (Really hoping they are S&W's). It is fantastic to see such a beautiful table being gifted. There is far too many these days that only want to take.
