Nice work Alex, I'm a bit of a fan of Flooded Gum.
I used to use Staedler amongst other propelling pencils when I worked as a systems analyst and the sharpener was in the button to propel the lead
FWIW

Grab the biggest box of pencils you can find... stand in the doorway to your shed/workshop facing outside then one by one throw the buggers over your shoulder till the packet is MT!

I borrow chalk from my three year old ! Yellow stuff works great for rough cut lines on recycled material and is easy to spot in the workshop.
I have about 8 pencils in the workshop at the moment, common locations are on my tablesaw rip fence, on the bandsaw, a few on various woodpiles, in my overall pocket, in the washing machine etc etc. I'm with Mick on the school style sharpener, takes just a jiffy to sharpen up a good 1/2 dozen then you can leave them scattered about the place and always find a sharp one.

A little maths helps me sometimes .
Firstly at home:
There are 52 weekends = 104 days @ 2 pencils per day = 208 pencils
(see note 1 below)
Then at work:
12 periods of man arts per weekx 42 weeks per year x 10 pencils per period (see note 2 below) = 5040 pencils
6 teachers in staff room @ 1 pencil per week (see note 3 below)
=252 pencils
Sub total = 208 + 5040 + 252 = 5500 per year
Now I know that experienced wood workers will say that I have under estimated the requirements but we are on a budget. I also have not taken into account the random and as yet unexplained fact that pencils are radioactive and decay randomly into base metals
note 1:
I have a particularly strong infestation of pencil hobbits in my shed
note 2
The three most common reasons for needing extra pencils are
a) pencil hobbits attacking students on the way to school and stealing their pencils
b) since pencil hobbits only steal good pencils students often come to school with pencils that look like a piece of soft black crayon ie very blunt, very short and very soft
c) good pencils dissappearing up dust extractors
note 3
Younger teachers do a subject in second year called Advanced Theft (pencils). We are fortunate to have a number of younger teachers who passed the subject with distinction
I wear a tool belt in my shed. In it I keep a pencil or two, my tape measure, a square and the shed keys. This ensures that I always know where these items are. Now if I can only find where I left that tool bag!My age is still less than my number of posts

Inspired by this thread, I went out today and bought a clutch pencil.
I had the choice of paying $27.95 for the Staedtler or $11.95 for a clone (metal fittings, plastic case).
Sorry to say that I bought the clone.
I also bought a packet of 12 2H leads: $20.95
I guess that I've got a lifetime supply now.
As the lead sharpener was $19.95, I thought I'd see how I go with using the pencil end cap.
One thing that used to bug me with the HB pencils was how often I'd have to sharpen them. Hopefully the time between sharpenings will be less now.
