Perth - co-worker wants a 6ft charcuterie board made
As per the title my colleague wants a 6 foot charcuterie board made for his wife's birthday next month, he's asked me as I've done cutting boards in the past but I don't have the time right now as I'm too busy with work.
Anyone know someone local I can refer him to that would want the job?

6 foot, one fathom, 1800mm .... ? They could stick a bit of salami on each end and maintain social distancing.
More seriously, the largest that I have seen were in Japan where, if my often faulty memory is correct, they were called "planku" - possibly a Japanisation of plank. Commonest dimensions that I saw were:
- Width - 500 - 1,000mm, widest about 1350 mm.
- Depth - 100 - 200 mm, maximum less than 300 mm.
- Thickness - 6 - 10 mm, little correlation with size, thickest were quite small and chunky - eg 300x125x25.
Timber was always quarter sawn and quite light in colour. Species that I think I recognised included:
- Hinoki - Japanese cypress - extremely expensive and similar to Huon pine.
- Powlonia - very soft and available here.
- Poplar - not a timber I know, but a friend was fairly sure.
In Perth, plantation blue gum - E globulus - might be a suitable candidate.

Honestly. Go get one of the 1800mm project panels from bunnings.
Cut it down to size.
Route a "drip groove" in from the edge
Round the edges over
Put some sturdy handles on it
Coat in what ever
Job done

Anything more fancy and i think you'd be looking at a skinny live edge slab

Brilliant suggestion. These panels have next to no finish on them and a quick sand a finish with whatever food safe finish you like and the job will be done in half an afternoon.
