    Default Piano Hinges

When fitting piano hinges I find that they appear to hold the hinge side of the box too open. Is it advisable to recess the hinge into timber by the same amout for a normal butt hinge?
Thanks in advance for the advice.

I rebate the whole hinge into only one edge its cleaner and you dont have to worry about getting two rebates exact for each leaf.
