Er Zenwood - humongous pictures? They're all below the 100k site limit for uploading - hence the compression effects on some of the detail. Or do you mean something else?

I was referring to their physical size. For example, this one:

is 2048 x 1536 pixels when you open it, which is three times the size of my entire screen, which is only 1152 x 864 pixels. This results in the severe loss of colour quality to get the file size below 100kBytes. I'd suggest using an image editing package to get the image to something like 900 pixels wide (and scaled accordingly in height). Then you'll get more colours within the 100kB limit.
Those are my principles, and if you don't like them . . . well, I have others.

    Beautiful work Steve

I built once an aluminum box for a scooter and I remember drilling all those rivet holes….PITA.
I can just admire your work with the hand plane, it will never happen to me.

BTW, Zenwood is correct, maybe its better to first "resize" the picture to 800~900 pixels and then compress them to 100kb (I do it like that)

    Regards
    niki

Default Finished & ready for collection

    Hi everyone,

As I'd spent some time during the week in the evenings, and have made today a half-day in prep. for a nice long week-end ( ), I've finished off the cabinet.

Drawer has been fine sanded and given a couple of coats of Danish oil, and the whole shebang waxed with uBeaut.

I've fitted drawer slides and a drawer stop, with a strip of leather glued to its face to cushion the drawer closing (and because it makes a nice sound )

When the customer gets back next week from an O/S hol, she can pick it up (after coughing-up the $ balance ).

Even though it is Radiata, I reckon it looks ok for a rustic style of cabinet, which is what the customer wanted.

Beautiful work, Steve, with some nice touches (dovetails, cushioned drawer stops, etc), and nice photos.

    Thanks Zenwood!

I took your advice on the pics and pixel scaled them prior to applying compression - previously I'd just used the export/compression mechanism on PaintShopPro. It does make for a better postable image doing it per your suggestion. Thanks!

When I showed the customer the WiP phots she seemed very pleased.

I hope she brings some 'muscle' with her when she comes to collect it, as (like most of my projects) the thing is pretty heavy. At least we can remove the drawer and shelf for transit. The top as well if needs must.
