    Default Timber for toys

Hi, it’s probably been asked a few times, but what is the best timber to use for toys. I have used some Bunnings pine, but it tends to break easily. Thanks.

    G'Day Clarky,
Mostly it all depends on the toys you want to make and how much detail you want in them.
I use a little bit of clear pine from Bunnings when I can find "non-banana brand" but for the most I use recycled hardwoods.
The hardwoods are stronger, heavier, have better colour, figure and grain along with there machine-abiliy; the soft woods tend to do lots of tear outs even with good share cutting tool.
Some timber yards will let you scrounge through the "packing pieces" with another good source being good carpenters.
    I hope that helps.
    Cheers, crowie.

PS - I'll "pm" you with some other info....
