An easy one is a block of wood on each side with a dado you can drop a little cleat in, which the pipe rests against. It can't fall out unless there's upwards force which you shouldn't get from knocking it around.

You can add a hook at the end of each bay to prevent them from falling out.

Lol, you can keep the contents. I've had champagne before. Worst $2 I ever spent

    Default Even Simpler

Hey Tony, Here's one even simpler than Kuffy's.

In a previous house I used an exposed roof joist in a similar fashion. Quite secure, and gets the clamps up high so that you can use the wall space underneath for something else.

thanks Graeme, not all can afford Bessy clamps, the budget ones in my possession do not have that little lip that hooks over. good try and has me thinking.

seen what? The clamp racks? Or the clamps? I'm pretty sure both have made an appearance, and if not, I just glued up split top workbench tops with both the besseys and the pipe clamps. There will be a video for the bench, I can't guarantee that I will include a boring slab glue up though, probably will.

Me, too. I had el cheapo pipe clamps and I cannot remember whether they had those little flanges. They never fell off the joists, tho.

I paid $23 for my Bessey 3/4" pipe clamps on AmazonOz not too long ago. At the time, it was cheaper than the copies on Timbecon (currently on sale for $24.90 not including shipping). The price on Amazon has now gone up to $27.43 but you get free shipping if you have Amazon Prime and exceed $49. I know which I would choose even with the current prices. Note, the Besseys have 4 plates whereas the Torqata only has three. So theoretically, the Besseys should grip better.
