    Default Planer Thicknesser Noobie Question

    Hi all

    A simple question, I'm sure.

I have just acquired one of these Rockwell Planer Thicknessers (Model # RT7562) from the local tipshop for $50: see www.rockwelltools.com.au/benchtop_planers.html

I am told that it is in good working condition, and it has a couple of weeks guarantee - so nothing lost if it doesn't.

My question is: is this a combination machine such that I can straighten and dress timber? Or only dress timber (i.e., does it still need to be straightened on a seperate jointer)?

    Thanks in advance.

    Richard

The 562 is just a thicknesser. That being said at $50 it is still a very good score.
By making a long flat and rigid base to place timber on from ply or similar it can then be fed through to get the first side of your timber flat. There have been many threads on this subject in the past so do a search. There are other ways to get the first side flat also like with a router mounted on a sled.
    Regards
    John
