Lovely work, Paul. Very different from what I had been imagining from the words ....

Personally, I would leave well alone, until you have well and truly tested the market. Its a very niche market, so when the right buyer comes along he (or she - it will probably be she) will hardly believe their luck that they have found something so specialised.

Once you remove the pen racks their absence will almost certainly always be evident in the colouring of the wood - I do not think that will enhance your work.

Hi Graeme and thanks. Actually I have already started on one, just the one. Going to see how it turns out when finished. The only places that might be evident of something there before is where the end of my pen holder thingy butts up to the side of the box/tray. Some fine light sanding then oil and wax should return that section to blend in. They are unique yes, I'll see how the first one goes. Thanks again Graeme,

    Paul

i would buy a cheap slot drill for a mill around 8 or 10mm

then setup the depth stop on your drill press and just start peck drilling away at it just to eat away at the bulk

bottom out on the drill press depth stop and just slowly run it along to clear up the rest.

may have to use a chisel or something for the corners.

then just sand the best you can
