    Default Table Saw buying new

Open to suggestions and ideas . I want to upgrade from my Triton workcentre to a table saw . I have a compound mitre saw so I really only need a table saw now . Budget $1,000 or thereabouts . Any ideas or suggested suppliers ?
Single phase only . Tasmanian suppliers prefered .

Not sure if tradetools is down your way.. I dont think so . They have a 2hp cast iron table saw for about $970 which includes provision for you router . Also hafco have a store in melbourne and they have a similar saw at similiar price.

    Hi Rick,

In Tasmania you have a number of choices,

South - Moonah Machinery in Derwent Park or Specialty Joinery Supplies North Hobart

North - Machinery International Kings Meadows, or Howard Saws at Glen Dhu

Specialty joinery Supplies has stuff from the Carbatec catolgue but charges for delivery on top. Howard Saws sells the Jet range, no delivery charges.

Both Moonah Machinery and Machinery International sells Chinese/Taiwanese made saws of various quality depending on price. Both do not charge delivery.

I opted for the Jet contractor saw at about $1100 from Howard Saws and very pleased with it.

I think you will find th overwhelming advice on this forum is to get a TSC10HB - generally sold through Carbatec. Not sure about availability in Tassie though.

Hvae a look in the hand tools and machinery area of this forum - there have been zillions of discussions of the different types of table saws and particularly the benefits of moving from a triton to a dedicated TS.

    Good luck

    Hi All,
I go my TSc-10hb through specialized joinery supplies. They charged the catalogue price for it plus $108 for freight and delivery and unloading at my house. Got it in under two weeks which I thought was pretty good. I can't make any comment on it compared to other tablesaws as it is my first "proper" one.
I looked at Moonah Machinery but I was swayed y opinion on the board. Thats not to say Moona Machimnery don't have some OK stuff. I bought their 2hp dust collector and will get a BAS 350 clone bandsaw from them soon.
    Cheers

    Hi Rick,

For a $1000 I would go with the Jet contractor saw. The very popular TSC10HB will set you back closer to $1500 so stick with the Jet, you won't be sorry.

    Cheers,

    Peter.

I recently changed from Triton to a ci tablesaw and did not have a successful outcome.
Maybe it was because the tablesaw I purchased was at the budget end of the saw ranges. My retailer agreed to a take back and I then spent an additional £1000 ($2300aus) and hoping to have made a better decision than last time.

So my story is dont change unless there is an advantage in doing so.
