Plaque
As a picture framer I get some interesting projects.
The latest has me in a bit of a quandary, and I would like some thoughts.
I was given a plastic "In Memorial" plate. Gold face, letters punched thru to a black background.
It needs framing but must be weatherproof, so traditional methods are out.
I was thinking of a Jarrah plaque, acrylic window etc etc.
Any ideas out there???????????
Will fibreglass weatherproof it?????? Will the heat generated from the fibreglass damage the plastic???????????

This may not be the answer you want, but maybe the plate should be cast in bronze.

Thoroughly agree, but this is what the client gave me. Cost an arm and a leg I believe.
Have investigated resin embedding, might be the way to go.I tried to be normal once.

From a previous discussion I understand that this may be an unusual substance to you folks in Aus. But have you considered uPVC (sometimes called PVCu).
It is extruded white but can be covered in many different coloured foils (plastic wraps) to give different finishes. Mahogany & Teak are quite common here in the UK as window frames. If it can stand up to our weather, it will survive yours.Dragonfly

My problem is that the client has already had the plate engraved and given me the task of mounting it.
I am completely flying blind. I have no idea how they will present it. Stuck on a tree????? Glued to a rock??????
The joys of picture framing in a remote location.I tried to be normal once.
