If it's good enough for my dogs, it's good enough for me!

I remembered your stories about dogs and hide glue yesterday and tried the cats with a bit, thinking that if they like it, their sandpaper-tongues would be very effective on squeeze out. They didn't go for it at all. They like ear wax and licking their bums though, so it doesn't seem you can rely on cats for culinary reviews. Dogs may be better, but having smelt the things they have rolled in I'm not convinced

Yes, 2mm is too thin. 5mm or 6mm would be ideal, nicely rounded over.
A 12oz. Warrington hammer with a 6mm thick brass plate brazed onto the cross pein makes an excellent veneer hammer: The blade is for hammering veneer and the hammer head is used for knocking in veneer pins..

G'Day "mic-d",
Could you please tell me the details of the unit you are using to heat the hide glue, thank you.

Hi Crowie
It is a 1L Beauty Pro wax heater purchased from ebay. Do a search for wax heater on ebay. Unfortunately the frog-murdering, snail-sucking surrender monkeys have their grubby little paws over them and you can't currently buy one. One of the other brands is proably just as good tho'
