Please Help ?
Hi Guys
Just recently purchased an 1860's cottage and found this in the shed ?
what is it ?
Land records show a carpenter lived in the house over 100 years ago ? and wood is abundant on the land.
someone said they 'think' its a mortice and tenon machine, but I have no idea.. its huge and VERY heavy
I need the space, so any ideas ?
regards
paul

Its a hand morticer, not a tenoner. Fitted with a chisel you pull down on a lever and cut a hole. The wheels fit to the carriage and move the wood in all directions to allow slots to be cut.
Value is in the cast iron, or as a garden ornament. Not sure anyone would use one of these anymore, even those from the darkside.
