Plenty of help here
We were at LOML's best friend's brother's farm ( got that???). He is second from the right. The piece of Purpleheart is from a shed that Gilberto's father built and I was asked to cut a piece off so I could make a pen. The saw was blunt and rusty so the others helped by plying me with advice and refreshments.
1st on the right with the worried expression: farm worker from next door, holding a bottle of cachasa. A good bloke, who by the end of the day was very concerned for my state of sobriety.
2nd on right: Gilberto, all round good bloke, farm owner, supplier of timber and saw, Supplier of Cerveja - beer.
3rd from right: Gilberto's nephew, son of LOML best friend.Larrakin of the best kind. Speaks great English.
Next: name forgotten but husband of some one in the family, Good bloke, but got flogged in the drinking stakes.
Lastly my good self.
Machine is a sugar cane crusher - manual type.

Nice to finally meet you, Arthur
It does look like a good time was being had by all. Brazil would be amazing to be in (unless you wanted a lathe)
Now, where's that purpleheart pen???
Cheers,
Dave...but together with the coffee civility flowed back into him

Oval is just a PITA - usually centres not lining up. As for the colour, fear not - a day or two in the sun and it will be purple again, just keep rotating it. Heat usually makes it go darker brown, UV darker purple - both processes are one-way only...
