Ply or MDF better substrate for 32 mm thick timber veneered desk top?
Making a home use desk top 1800 x 900 with 900 x 600 return.
Do you joiners / cabinet makers think it would be wiser to make it with Tas Oak T & G planks 19 mm thick with edge
thickening extra 19 mm boards and transverse 19 mm thick boards underneath and simply stain it.
(Similar to a timber gate) rather than original proposal of timber veneer on MDF or ply.
If I go the timber veneer option would plywood substrate be stiffer and stronger than MDF for 1800 long desk 32 mm thick?
Appreciate advice.Last edited by MrShuffles; 30th May 2011 at 08:47 PM. Reason: Different intent
