I wonder...what would be the process if I wanted to produce a cylinder or an oval-shaped form in a home workshop? If 2 halves are made using cauls , due to some spring-back they will probably open just a little bit.... Anyone's done it?

Wow! I hadn't seen that web site before. I muck about making ply cylinders to make drum shells up to 24" deep, but the stuff and the quality of what is available off the shelf from that lot is boggling!

Hi Ivan,
Yes definitely possible making them in the workshop with various moulds.
Do a search on drum making sites and there is a wealth of information.
The Laminex group has a worksheet on bending and creating cylinders here http://www.thelaminexgroup.com.au/downloads/trade_essentials/TradeGuide_Craftform.pdf#search="bending"
