Sprog, I just happened to glance at my bookshelf and low and behold the book you mention was there . . . I reached up and opened it and found the plans to a pool(Billiards) table on page 196 . . .

Speaking as a former pool table maker I personally would buy a second hand table and do it up. Unless you especially want to make one yourself, this is a much much cheaper and easier option.

Default Too Bloody Stubborn To Buy One

Thanks for the excellent feedback. Yes I was referring to the one in the Australian Woodworker (apologies to the publisher). SWMBO, bless her cotton socks, would baulk at forking out $ for a pool table, but would not blink if I spent the same money gradually buying the material I needed!!

I actually have a slate topped one lined up for $800 but it is 600km away and I would rather the challenge of building one.

I was thinking of the compressed cement sheeting used in bathroms (16mm) for the top and I have some 8 x 2 jarrah planks from an old cattle yards for the frame (I 'acquired' some before the d-heads from the timber company planting trees bulldozed and burnt the rest).

There are always cheaper options. I spent $200 on timber to build a coffee table when I could have got virtually the same table from malaysian hardwood for $180. Guess which one give the most satisfaction?

I actually found a couple of excellent links on the old threads listed under 'similar topics' which were very useful. Loved the "aquatic" pool table. Someone out htere is much better at digital imagery than me! (wouldn't be hard)

    Thanks for the input
