    Default Pool Table

Well I have just finished building the new queen size bed with knockdown joints and mallee inlay (pictures later) and I am thinking that as I am now the proud owner of a HUGE games room, I should build a pool table. ( after I finish the two coffee tables and wine rack that I started months ago)

Found one in a mag today but it looked a bit tacky. Does anyone have pictures, plans or advice on building a pool table?

depends if you're going to leave it out by the pool all the year round and what the chairs are made of.
Will it be to have drinks around or will you also serve food on it/
    Cheers

I've repaired a couple of them over the years. May I make a suggestion: find a used one and refurb it. The ones I've worked on had a lot of supports, braces and various other pieces inside them plus you have the slate to deal with. You could use the old pieces for patterns as need be and already have the slate surface. The rails and pockets would be the most difficult to get right in my opinion.

There is nothing wrong with 'pool table'. There is a game called 'pool'.
Is there anything easier done than said?

'Pool' is a seppo term young fella. When I was young it was called 'eight ball'.
Why do we have to slavishly follow bloody seppos in everything??

    Laury,

Shirl featured a pool table many years ago on Our House. From memory it looked a reasonable table.

    Our House Pool Table

It was from a book titled "Complete Book of Woodworking and Carpentry/Terry Smith Brian Haines"

The book is available in the state library, might be worth requesting it and having a look.

    But still Pool

    From Wikipedia:
The word "pool" generally refers to pocket billiard games such as 8-ball, 9-ball, straight pool and one-pocket. The word "pool" comes from "poolrooms," where people gambled off track on horse races. They were called poolrooms as money was "pooled" to determine the odds. Because such rooms commonly provided billiard tables, pool became synonymous with billiards by association. The terms "pool" and "pocket billiards" are now interchangeable.

I think they are defining billiards as different to pocket billiards...
