    Default Box Bevel Angles Query.

I want to make a few 4 sided boxes with angled sides, like a pyramid with a flat top but unsure of the angle of the bevel.truncated-pyramid.jpg

I have a table saw and will be using 6mm mdf.

If it was a regular square or rectangular box I'd set the saw blade to 45 deg, is it the same for an angled box?

If not, is there a simple formula that I can use that works for boxes of varying sizes? (emphasis on simple as my maths should/could be better)

    Appreciate any advice/solutions.

    Regards
    Robert

Use a calculator tool, it's definitely not simple to do the math by hand.

I don't know if it's still taught, but when I did Tech Drawing for the Leaving Cert. nearly 60 years ago, we learned a graphical method to measure it. However to be accurate you would have to draw it at a large scale. Later, studying Surveying, I learned the expression "If you can't calc it, plot it. If you can't plot it, calc it." I used that expression to produce a spreadsheet to calc it.
