    Default First Project

    Well here goes,

Being that I am new to this forum and also woodworking thought I would share my first project. Thought I would start with something simple like a coffee table.

Timber is 100 year old jarrah from demolished house finished with oil and an oil varnish mix for the base will give final light coat of wax in a weeks time

Got the design ideas from 3 or 4 different projects and took little bits from each one.

Love the great design, the gentle curves, the flaring on the legs and of course, the quality timber you've recycled as well

Well done for your first project. Can't wait to see what you design and build next

    cheers

Thanks all for your input, I love the use of recycled timber and acctually got some from the local tip face. Can not work out why someone would throw jarrah out but as they say one mans rubbish another mans treasure.

Thinking about a bedside table but not sure how to make the drawer as yet and finishing off a work bench at the moment

    Beautiful table. Well done,

I'd love to get hold of some jarrah or even redgum and try my hand at making something.

If you make a start on that bedside table, dont forget to give us all a look in. Even that workbench is probably worth showing off after the quality of your first effort. Again well done.

You might be OK with a bit more practice??????????

Seriously, that is a good looking table.

I especially like the soft edges on the table top. It would be very comfortable to eat at.

    Hi Stuart,

Scavenging is a good passtime, I make that many trips to the tip scavanging wood they should call me Steptoe. To enjoy our passtime in the future we need to do all we can to make it sustainable through recycling as much timber as possible.
