Project Ideas
Hi,
Just wondering where everyone gets there project ideas from.
I try and get photos of pieces I like when I see it, and I search a lot on these forums.
Are there any websites that people have found very helpful? Or maybe somewhere in Sydney that has some inspirational pieces that I can get ideas from?
How about a book that someone has found helpful?
Thanks,
Andy

This is the best pictorial reference site featuring all the great modern woodies. Check out both the first and second decade. If you have a slow connection, dont bother as its huge.
Pritam & Eames, the Gallery of Original Furniture
My favorite site/blog. You can spend days looking at this, and check the book section out, its a ripper.
Evenfall Woodworks
And last but not least, dont forget the "new" google images. Its simply sensational. Type in anything and the new format of pictures pop up so much better than the old format. I love it

Thanks for the links- much appreciated!
I might even go to a woodwork gallery. I went to one in the hunter valley last year, they had some amazing work.

Lignum,
Thank you so much for this link. Better than reading a book. The commentary on each piece was a little like the waffle you get with wine evaluations but it gives a great deal of insight into what these craftspeople are trying to achieve. James Krenov's work is truly inspiring and his philosophy is there in the piece- amazing.
Thanks again,

Lignum - thanks very much for both links ! Excellent stuff
Lots of very useful stuff on the Evenfall site, which I had inexplicably missed in my web travels.
Ray - thanks for the heads up on Trend, I'd forgotten about that. Might go up on the Friday, before all the free snags get scoffed.....
Cheers

Anyone go to the open day?
I went today - no discounts on wood but a couple of demos and work on display. I was only there for a short while, but did enjoy the time spent there.

Yup - I went along on the Friday. Couldn't move for turning demos.......
The new premises are a massive improvement. Much more space to display timbers, with the odd machine dotted around to tempt the unwary.
