Default What are your projects this weekend?

The long weekend is here. I hope to complete more than I planned to do last weekend.

Still have the raised panel doors to finish on the wardrobe. They are coming along nicely, but so slowly (I got side-tracked last weekend and ended up restoring a few chisels and a dovetail saw).

    What are you up to?

    Regards from Perth

    Derek

As rain is forecast for Melb this weekend I won't be able to finish external painting so I might be forced to clean up the garage in readiness for next projects - a jarrah cabinet, jarrah bookcase for one daughter, and nest of tables for other daughter then maybe I can tackle some Blackheart Sassafras that has been marked out for a coffee table. Other than that I have nothing to do.
The rain is very welcome though so no complaints

I doubt I'll be spending any time anywhere except the workshop this weekend - looking forward to it Might be a trip for supplies this morning though.

I need to finish off the tool rack I started last weekend. Structure is basically done - electrical & light, then tool holders to do. Should get that basically sorted out today.

Then I'm seriously contemplating building myself a decent workbench. Still trying to work out whether I'm going to build something to last the next few years, or the next 20. I could go buy a bunch of pine & build it out of that, or hardwood. The pine won't last as long of course, but it will be cheaper. Decisions, decisions.

I need another vice too. And bench dogs. Not sure what types to go for. Maybe I'll hang back and build something else in the mean time.

The sideboard proceeds with a soothing gradualness. Despite having been on leave all week, I really haven't done very much woodworking.

This weekend I plan to cut some M & T joints for the mainframes of the sideboard and to do a bit of work on modifications to my router table. (If I can fit it all in between making forays in all directions looking for more handplanes! Problem - what problem?)

A weekend away with the missus for a belated aniversary celebration.

Off to the Southern Highlands, so might be a chance to check out some antique tools in the antique shops .

I've got next week off work to re-organise my workshop. Woo Hoo!

    Cheers

    Unhappy

Well, I've got 40M of open trench running from the house down to the shed (sorry Eastie, no barriers round it) all the conduit and cable I need and the FLU. I'm barely strong enough to sit in front of the computer let alone be out there swinging a shovel to clean up the ends and corners of the trench. Hopefully by sometime next week I'll have it all done and then another week or so I'll have it ready for the sparky. In the meantime it's surfing the net, watching movies and looking at the ever growing list of projects.

Great start to the day with Norm and a cuppa then started some brick paving. Met with a fellow woodworker for a couple of hours then finished the brick paving.
Tomorrow I will be restoring a child's Queen Anne bed and Monday will be socialising.
    Cheers,

Correction - the Queen Anne bed got shelved as I picked up a bargain through the Readers Mart.
Got a 9 year old Milling Machine with tooling that only has a couple of hours use.
Now the big question - do I keep it for metalwork or do I use it to make 600mm mortices and more importantly does it get housed in the shed or the activity room?
Wish I had more in the hip pocket as the bloke was quitting metal lathes, drills and all sorts of gear cheap. Got it loaded by forklift but had to get it off the ute by the armstong method. My back will remind me of this for a couple of days.
    Cheers,

Gardening and more gardening; no woodworking this long weekend either.

Treated roses for blackspot; started installing a drip watering system, still going.

Have to check SWMBOs cars emission control system, difficult to start when hot. It is still under warranty but the agent can look at it only in two weeks time. Some service.

    Regards,

    Theva
