    Default Putty: Agnew's vs Timber-Mate

Hi all, I have a project in mind where I will experiemnt with some putty for a desired effect. I presently have a tub of Agnew's Water Putty that I haven't opened (not sure why I bought it, actually) and wondering if, colour aside, there';s much difference between this and the Timber-Mate range. I'll want something that sets hard, and can be resawn without falling apart.

I'll elaborate on what I want to do..... as a newbie, I want to try out various things to see for myself what works, and have an ide to make shallow cuts into timber, then fill these cuts with putty, to give an 'inlay effect'. I have all sorts of geometric designs in mind, but for now I an going to simply use a few test woods. If the two puttys are pretty much the same them there's no point buying some Timber-Mate until I actually need it.

I have found that TimberMate expands under a Boiled Linseed Oil finish (their claim of not shrinking is therefore technically correct)
