Where to get quality squares.
More a general question then Woodwork specific one but where do people (From Melbourne) go to buy squares that are, well ,square.
I had a big purging of my tools today and by trial and error and lots of curseing ended up tossing out 2 of my squares as they failed to meet the tolerance of the others I have.
3 squares should be enough in most cases but I'd like to get one good very short/small one and likewise in a longer/larger one as my remaining 3 are all about the same size.
Digressing slightly but along the same lines how about good steel rules in metric and imperial. Again I've got a couple in stainless in a matt finish which is very easy to read, all the ones I see in the stores now are too reflective.
They way I cut along a line I need all the help I can get.

I have a Nobex 200mm square that I picked up from Carbatec and a 300mm that I picked up from the working with wood show last year. It is foldable and so far this has been the one that I use the most.
I also have one that is not so square and that is really for display.
I also picked up the box of Groz engineers squares from Carbatec and find that I am using the smallest one the most. Not sure on the size.
I should also add that the one that is not so square can be milled / modify but that is just a project to have a bit of fun.

Trust Wongo to be the sensible one.
I have 1 of Chris' Double squares, Moore & Wright Engineer squares 4" & 6", AWR Multi-square and a couple Rafter angle squares.
The first 3 are kept in a safe drawer, away from a knuckle headed klutz.Pat

I would recommend you have a look at the Colen Clenton squares. He makes them in a variety of sizes. They are true works of art, and are fully re-calibratable if they ever get knocked out of square. On top of that, Colen is a true gentleman, and is a delight to deal with. You will find him by googling, or he is usually in person at the Working with Wood show later in the year. He shares a website with HNT Gordon, the planemaker.

The Carbatec one piece (ie they cant get knocked out of square ever) small aluminium engineers squares are wonderful for tool setups.
