    Default Question!!!

Okay look the seachest turned into a friggin nightmare so now Ive ended up with 2 nice BIG frames and 2 smaller ones... so Im thinkin of makin a collage up for Tiff and Ben (check the blog out later I will give yer a father of the bride yarn) instead... so what Ive got now and what Im thinking then the question

    1) Ive got the frames... 1 is 54in x 28in... the one frame Im thinking of using for this alternative wedding present (yes delayed) is 2in thick Jarrah and the insert is 1/4in ply with Ebony veneer... Ive given the veneer a quick coat of varnish to keep it from doing anything stupid like cracking splitting and otherwise going nuts.

    2) What Im thinking... is to get a some of the better wedding photos the father of the bride and the brides sons lapel flowers and the spare bridesmaids flower spray (what are they called?) and arranging them on the ebony with a blown up centre picture of the bride and groom

    3) The question... what do I use to fasten and protect the arrangement and photos?... so far Ive decided to either drill through the ply and use some copper wire to tie down the flower arrangements... but the photos have me stuffed... will varnish destroy the photos? what about that 2 pack poly stuff? is there something else I dont know about?

    Cheers
    Shane

Can you put a sheet of glass over the top of everything?

I know packing wedding etc has your time right now Ding but photos would help

    sorry about the chest

flat press the flowers if real if they are silk leave them be you could use hot glue Ding for flowers etc the bouquets but the wire sounds better

as for the photos craft glue is fine or the double sided stick or corner holders from photo shop even BigW Kmart have these or card cutout around to hold the photo in place

Oops I stuffed up somehow, posted in here then deleted it cos I forgot to add picture so will try again.

I think you mean to create a shadow box type frame for your wedding flowers and picture. Maybe you could mount the flower arrangement in a partitioned section of the frame and mount the picture in the second part of the frame. In the picture you can see what I mean. I have placed the boxing glove in a separate section of the frame and mounted the picture to the front of the frame. The picture is fixed in place with duct tape. The glove is mounted by screwing through the back of the frame and into a small piece of timber inserted inside the glove to avoid damage to the glove itself.

Maybe you could do a drawing of what you intend to do if you have the time.

You can get a spray adhesive in a can, I used to buy it from a photo shop. Didnt buckle the pic or anything.

    Cheers everyone!!

John pretty much that sort of thing... but with the bouquet (hey I remembered the word!!) its raised a fair bit... sorry no pics as Tiffany and Ben have shot threw for a week somewhere hot and nice.. frigginmongrelyounggits didnttakemefrigginmongrelgits... and so I cant get at the bouquets yet.

Glass front? mmm yeah I guess I could route another trench to slide a sheet of glass or clear perspex infront... not a bad idea actually... just attaching the things... okay so wheelin an donna the craft glue or the photo corners? Im a tad skeptical about the corners since our own wedding album was done with those things and unlike my old grans wedding album they just dont make em the same anymore... in other words over the last 25 years our photos have started to fall off cause the corners gum doesnt hold.

Okay cheers again! food for thought

Will get some photos as soon as I can sort things a tad

Whats the story of the pic and glove? I seen Kostas very first pro fight, it was on the undercard to Fenech v Nelson. Kosta won Fenech lost

Hey!! Just thought of another way around this thing! ...man sometimes all it takes is a small thought question thread and the ideas really kick in eh!

Okay so Ive got all the peices of the "once was seachest" meaning Ive got the two long frames and the peices for the sides along with the panel peices and feet... sooooooooooo....

What about a glass top coffee table?... you know the type that has a false base in it that you have your treasures on display under the glass?... shouldnt be that difficult to convert what I have into something along those lines eh?

Yeah packing... sigh... shes now talking about "his" and "hers" houses ala she gets the new place and I get this one... yeah yeah still get to see each other and visit... nah I think its a joke... maybe???????? then again.... shes been sayin how much nicer a house we could afford if we didnt HAVE TO HAVE the whoppin great shed as it limits her choices... ooooooooohhh gawd strewth!! maybe I better put dibs on the new house quick smart eh!!!

Anyways what about that idea? any thoughts on plans for such?
    Cheers again

I did the glove for a PCYC charity auction last year. I have done a lot of Kosta stuff mostly for charity. They bring a good price. I did a bigger one than that last year too and it made just over $500

we just put some drink coasters into resin and we used model airplane dope to protect them from the resin dicoloureing them. worked a treat. (used casting resin from bunnys). to mount the photos try carpet tape as it is double sided and 2" wide as well. sticks like the provebial. or you could mount them under the resin as well. (just test a piece of photo in resin first to see if it discolours. if ti does try the dope.( not smoking kind either))

ps. used casting resin to fill a gumvein in a piece of jarahh and its great. just snad to 1200 wet and dry and then use cut and paste to polish it.

pps. use fine copper or silver wire to tie the flowers to the backboard
    First On Race Day

And the first brock trophy goes to...............
and we got no "2" as well

Dingo, why not just experiment with a couple of "spare" photos?

My ol' girl used to cut out and paste photos, magazine clippings and the like onto the bottom of tea-trays with PVA and then give 'em all a coat of plain ol' shellac.

I think 'tis called "decoupage." Probably worth googling...
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.
