Question on cutting circles
Gidday fellas
Got a wee question if I may
Im presently making Chrissy pressies like a demented chook! clocks out the wazoo boating hydrometers/barometers/compass thingys up the khyber pass :eek: Man im beginin to hate clocks!! :mad:
What Im about to do is make a thingymajig for my hippy sister... now Im thinkin of one of those "ying and yang" things? you know where theres the half black circle and half white with two smaller circles in each and a wavy line through?... anyways! the timbers Im going to use are Jarrah and Sheoak with a line of Tuart through... the small circles Im leaving empty so I can sit a couple of buddahs in them the base will be banksia...
so anyways! to make a long story short as possible... without a bandsaw to me name how would be the best way of cutting these matching circles so they match :eek: ... Im thinking a peice each of the Jarrah and Sheoak somehow stuck together a circle drawn on the top most one and the ever handy jigsaw to cut them... that way they should match up {and bonus being Id have anothery to give to another hippy member of the tribe }
So how would be a good read best way of keepin these two peices of timber from wandering away from each other? Screws? glue? duct tape?
Oh size?... the overall size of the circle when combined should be no more than 10in across {is that the diagonal? or the radius? damn wish I hadda taken more notice way back in math 101 } it will stand {inclusive of the stand itself about 14in high... oh ! almost forgot the thickness of the circle... 1/2in thick
Any thoughts? Am I on the right track or totally mucked up again?
Thanks fellas for any responsesBelieve me there IS life beyond marriage!!! Relax breathe and smile learn to laugh again from the heart so it reaches the eyes!!

I recon a router is your friend.
The old jigsaw i recon is a bit of a butchery tool realy.
If you eithr make a template or use the supplied fence in circle cutting mode you should get very accurate results with purpendicular cuts.
better still make a funky template to do the whole swirly half circle thing.
you could bang em out by the dozen every one the same.
cheers

Use double sided, also known as carpet tape. Good luck!
