Rail and Stile doors - advice needed
Hi all,
I've just put in a complete new kitchen for my mum......except for the doors. I'm all set up with the Triton router bench and want to make my own rail and stile doors with a raised panel in the centre. I've already made a couple of test doors from pine but they have twisted on me.
I don't want to spend a fortune on this and would like some advice on what sort of timber you guys would suggest to make the doors out of. I'm thinking a soft wood to keep the weight down but are some timbers more prone to twisting than others?? should I go kiln dried?? I'm working in Sydney but come from the Hunter Valley. Can anyone also suggest a timber yard where I might get a decent piece of timber from?
One last thought - the doors will be stained so grain is an issue.
Grateful of any help
Thanks
Stu

I have just finished my kitchen.
Never made a door in my life before but ended up pretty good, I think.
All doors were mede in knotfree pine.
Send me a private message and I will give you some pointers.

These are my wall cabinets, we made the bottom half of the doors with a glass insert.
This is the kitchen we built seen from one end
This is seen from the other end.Every day is better than yesterday
