what rasp for MDF skirting
Hi
I've got to do a job with 280mm by 35mm MDF skirting.
I would like to buy some sort of rasp to "fine tune" the scallops and curves on the skirting to make them fit nice.
Can anyone suggest what rasp I should buy and what grain it should be.
Thanks
Bushy

Thanks Gaza
I hadn't thought of sanding.
The top half of the skirting is a bit intricate. I'm not sure how the sander would fit. I'll have to try and see.
Thanks

Bushy,
If you have some doweling handy , cut sections 200mm long, and glue your sand paper around them .
I would suggest the following,
1, 60 grit & 80 Grit on 1 piece
2, 120Grit.
Use the yellow GP PAPER on the ROLLS , from M10.
For the flat sections a piece of 42x19 pine and glue the paper on as well.
You can use hot melt or pva glue , or staple the paper.

thanks Jeff
thats not a bad idea. I hadn't thought of using dowels. I'll be doing them next week, so I've got a few days to make a few.
Cheers

Bushy,
Hope that you get your job done , the sandpaper on the dowel will be a lot kinder than a rasp,
Could you post a Pic of the moulding >???

hi Jeff
Haven't got there yet. Been busy somewhere else. Maybe the end of this coming week or the following week.
I haven't got one of those fancy phones with a camera.
I'll try and remember to bring a bit home after work.

Hello VK4
I started the big skirts today. They were only 230mm by 34mm, which was heavy enough when they're 5.4m long.
I tried to attach a sketch of the profile onto this page but couldn't find out how to do it.
Anyway they're started.
Thanks for the help.
Bushy.
