Re-sawing in adelaide
G'day
I might finally get around to making that dining table I promised the missus a few (ok quite a few) years ago. I have some 10x2 old jarrah that I think I'll use. Probably need to get it re-sawed down to 10x1. It has never had nails or bolts in it. I can only do up to 8", spose I could rip it in half, re-saw it then glue it back together?
Anyone now of a reasonably priced service in adelaide who would do this? (ie resaw the 10x2)
cheers
Rod

hi rod ,
why dont you use the thickness that you have now . it would look a whole lot better than 1"(imho).
no i dont know of anyone who resaws here ,ask at your woodworking store ,local cabinet makers(they could point you in the right direction ),yellow pages sawmillers etc.
i done the same but left them 2" ,this was one of my first projects , her in doors likes it , i hate it but she wont let me pull it apart to rebuild! (does look like it was built 3>400 yrs ago, except for the coach screws holding it together. i did say it was my first project, no joinery skills at all back then!)
once youve finished it you wont be moving it to quickly but , damn jarrah this thick weighs a ton.
hope to see your masterpiece soon in pics.

Thanks for your thoughts mik. I will follow up some of your suggestions. The boards are just over 2" so should be able to get 20+mm finished.
Good luck with the job.
cheers
